Climbing Paradise Zillertal

Climbing is not only a kind of sport, climbing is an attitude towards life! Getting to the top as quickly as possible is not the point. What counts are physical and mental strength as well as highest concentration. The heart beats, fingers tingle and time seems to stand still when climbers put their hands at the granite and gneiss walls of Zillertal. The via ferrata called “Ewige Jagdgründe“ in Ginzling is known worldwide and it is among the most famous routes of the region. It is situated only a stone’s throw away from your accomodation at the apartment house “Lifeblood“. This area is situated at a roaring torrent and fascinates by offering 136 routes from grading 3 to 11 and by unique rock forms and climbing grips.

Besides numerous sports climbing routes and fantastic multi-rope routes you can find wonderful bouldering areas amidst idyllic alpine meadows.

Climbing has a long tradtion in Zillertal and the people have always been said to be pioneers among climbers. Your host family is also fascinated by climbing. Michael knows the climbing routes in Zillertal like the back of his hand and his passion for the rocks made him do the first climb of a special route near Ginzling. Together with his climbing partner Reinhard Gruber named “Noscht“ he went to Breitlahner in the summer of 2013. From the mountain inn Breitlahner they climbed a route through the rock face for the first time. Packed with climbing equipment, ropes, hammer and hooks the fellows started their adventure and climbed the chosen route with a lot of tactics and feeling within three days.

During the first climb they experienced intensive moments full of adrenaline, sweat and incredible happiness. As this new route stands for such a lot of lifeblood, Michael and “Noscht“ decided to name it “Lifeblood“.

Four years later the Schragl family built their apartment house in Mayrhofen with the same passion, intuition and team spirit and it was soon clear that there is only one possible name for it, “Apart Lifeblood“.
